FREE Emergency School Closing Addition No-Prep Printables from Kamp Kindergarten!

This FREE packet is designed to give learners one week of addition facts within 10 at home practice pages to be used for Distance Learning situations during emergency school closings due to weather conditions, health crises such as the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020, or other states of emergency. There are 5 ink-saving no-prep printable pages in this resource.

I made the Terms of Use very friendly for emergency situations. Permission is granted to copy and send home the pages. If it is not possible to provide hard copies, learners can copy the problems from a device screen and solve the equations on paper. This can also offer opportunity for some fine motor enhancement during a time when children are completing mostly digital assignments. The entire zip file may be emailed to families or posted on school district or classroom websites following the directions stipulated in the Terms of Use included in the download.

This resource helps learners develop addition fluency and supports the Math Common Core Standards for Operations and Algebraic Thinking.

I hope these pages are helpful to you, your learners, and their families. I wish everyone the best during their time of stress and turmoil.

My FREEBIE is a Color Words Clip Cards FREEBIE that allows your little learners to enhance their fine motor development while practicing reading color words. There is a great need for providing opportunities for fine motor development in young children. Many recent articles tell of children entering kindergarten in the past few years lacking the necessary fine motor control to grip a pencil or crayon, use scissors, or turn pages. This decline in fine motor development has been attributed to increased screen time for young children and decreased time spent participating in traditional early childhood activities such as play dough, lacing, assembling puzzles, and doing finger plays. Click HERE or click on the image below to download my FREEBIE.

This activity is great for morning tubs, early finishers, informal assessment, and take-home practice. I hope you and your learners enjoy this resource.

Kamp Kindergarten Celebrates 7 Years on Teachers Pay Teachers

I am observing my 7th Tpt-Versary this week. Many things have happened in my life since I began my Teachers Pay Teachers journey. Many of you are close to me and know that some of these events have been wonderful, some have been life-altering, and some have been heartbreaking. Through it all, I have been blessed by your support, feedback, and purchases.

Thank you for the support you have shown me over the years. Because of you, I have enjoyed this amazing journey over the past 7 years. I am thankful for all of you and want to offer a FREEBIE to show my appreciation.

This number sense resource math center offers your little learners a fun way to practice counting quantities to 20. These clip cards may also be used to help students develop subitizing skills. This activity may be used at any time during the year, but complements autumn/fall, farm harvest, or Johnny Appleseed themes.  They are a great follow up activity for a farm, cider mill, or apple orchard field trip.

I hope you and your learners enjoy this resource.

Thank you again for your support over the years.  I look forward to creating many more engaging resources for you and your learners.

Have a Fantastic Fall!!!

Teachers Pay Teachers Shares Kamp Kindergarten Winter Resource on Pinterest

Teachers Pay Teachers has shared one of Kamp Kindergarten’s favorite winter resources on Pinterest!  I was excited to learn that TpT had shared this versatile resource on one of their Pinterest boards! This resource offers options for addressing tricky teens numbers.  Click HERE to see the pin on Pinterest.

This packet contains 32 ten frames no-prep printable pages for your learners to practice counting and labeling quantities of 11 to 20. This resource offers 2 different ink friendly formats to provide differentiation opportunities to best meet your learners’ needs. Just Print & Practice!

With the first format option, learners write the numeral for the quantity represented by the ten frames graphic.  Learners may write their responses directly on the page or the page may be placed in a plastic sleeve and used as a dry erase write and wipe activity.

The second format option allows learners to complete ten frames for a given numeral.  Learners may draw dots in the ten frames or color the spaces to complete the ten frames.

Dot painting ten frames is a great way to keep your students engaged on dreary winter days.  These pages are great for dot painting activities.  Learners dip cotton swabs in paint and make dots to complete the ten frames.

Fast and Fun Halloween Activities from Dollar Store Notepads

I love using dollar store holiday notepads and novelty erasers to make fast and fun learning activities for math and ELA. They are easy and inexpensive to make since you do not have to spend hours coloring and cutting.  I laminate the activities for durability and have found that they can be used for several years.

I have always enjoyed incorporating holiday themes into my academic instruction.  It has been my experience that the activities keep little learners engaged.

I purchase notepads and erasers at various dollar stores, Target, and Walmart. The notepads and erasers I used for this post came from Target.

I like using designs that have a big field of white for color words activities.  This ghost notepad is perfect for a color words activity!

Write color words on notepad pages with a black marker.  Use corresponding color markers to make color swatches on the pages.  You may choose to draw objects in corresponding colors.  The color swatches are better suited to my artistic capabilities, but I am aware that most people are better artists than I.

Cut the pages into 2 pieces to make a matching activity. I like to use a paper cutter for convenience and to make neat uniform cuts.  If you prefer to make your activities so that on the correct pieces match like a puzzle, you may use scissors to cut each page in a random fashion. You may use curves, zigzags, or slanted lines to make each puzzle.  You may choose to use the puzzle method for the other matching activities in this post.

You now have a fun Halloween color word activity to share with your little learners.

Novelty mini erasers are a fun way to count and offer opportunities for fine motor development, too.

I wrote number words on these Halloween kitty notepads pages. Little learners place the correct number of cat erasers on each page.

I love candy corn for fall and Halloween. So many people kept posting pictures on social media of their candy corn erasers this year. Of course I wanted candy corn erasers badly.  I made multiple trips surrounding towns looking for candy corn erasers to no avail so I had to resort to using real candy corn for this number sense activity.

I wrote numerals on these Halloween candy notepad pages.  Learners place the correct number of candy corn pieces on each page.

I thought these haunted houses needed bats flying overhead so I wrote numerals on the pages beside the houses.

Learners place the correct number of bats over the haunted houses on each page.

I decided these Halloween Kitty notepad pages would also make fun alphabet matching activities. I wrote an upper case and lower case letter on each page.

I cut the pages into two pieces to make an upper and lower case letter matching activity.

I decided to also make a sight word matching activity with the Halloween candy notepad pages.

Cut the pages into two pieces to make a sight word matching activity.

I hope you and your learners enjoy these activities.

Happy Halloween!

10 Fabulous FREEBIES for Morning Tubs from Kamp Kindergarten

Gone are the days of little learners entering the classroom, taking supplies from their back packs, and sitting down to a morning worksheet.  Educators are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of a soft start to the day.  Morning tubs are the perfect way to provide a soft start that your little learners will love.

There are various approaches to morning tubs. They can be open ended or have a specific result in mind. They may be STEM or STEAM activities or other academic tasks.  They may or may not utilize recording sheets.

For morning tubs I prefer not to use recording pages.  I have found that with differing arrival times many students may not have time to complete the recording pages.  I would then have to decide if they should be required to complete it later.  I think requiring them to complete the recording pages later makes the morning tub just another assignment.  At some point that makes the morning tubs no longer a soft start.

I think that allowing them to leave the recording page unfinished unwittingly sends the message that the morning tubs are not important.  Plus it could reinforce poor work habits for learners who already experience difficulty completing written assignments. I decided that I wanted morning tubs to be a positive way to start the day with opportunities for social interaction, fine motor development, and stress free academic tasks.

Here are links to 10 Fabulous Freebies for Kindergarten and First Grade Morning Tubs!

Kamp Kindergarten Spring Math Task Cards FREEBIE Featured in the Teachers Pay Teachers Newsletter

Spring Numerals to 20 FREEBIE pink pouch Camper watermark copy

I am excited to share that Teachers Pay Teachers shared my Spring Numerals to 20 Clip Cards FREEBIE in this week’s newsletter!

This mental math resource has daffodil and domino graphics. Using dominoes is a fun way for little learners to practice subitizing.  Subitizing is a fundamental mathematical skill that builds a strong foundation for development of number sense. I have selected domino graphics with groupings of five to represent the quantities to help build an understanding of place value.

This resource is special to me because daffodils, or jonquils as they are called by many country people, remind me of my late grandmother.  She was well known in our little rural community for her love of jonquils.  Everyone knew who lived in the big old yellow house with yellow jonquils in the yard and a yellow Volkswagen Beetle ® in the garage.

Spring Numerals to 20 FREEBIE 4 cards vertical camper watermark copy

These clip cards address Counting and Cardinality Standards while offering bonus opportunities for fine motor development. I think this is important in light of the recent findings that many young children enter school with deficits in fine motor development due to excessive screen time on electronic devices.

The answer selections may also be marked with seasonal erasers, pennies, buttons, dry beans, pom-poms, or other household items.

Spring Numerals to 20 FREEBIE 16 Photo Album camper watermark copy

The cards may be placed in a dollar store photo album and used with dry erase markers to create a write and wipe activity. Use an inexpensive black glove or old sock as an eraser.  Old socks work well, but I prefer using a glove.  Kids love using a glove, too.  I like that putting the glove on gives little learners an additional opportunity for motor development.  In many areas of the country children have little experience with gloves.  Using the gloves allows little learners in warmer climates an opportunity to learn to put on gloves.

Fiesta Navidad at Epcot: Las Posadas

Mariachi band at Epcot 12-15 cropped and watermarked copyMariachi Cobre at Epcot

I love Christmas at Epcot.  Mariachi Cobre and their accompanying dancers are absolutely amazing at anytime of the year.  Their special Christmas performance for Fiesta Navidad and Los Posadas show is a treat indeed.  It is entertaining and educational.  Children and adults alike enjoy the music and learn about the tradition of Las Posadas, the piñata, and the legend of the poinsettia.  The festive garments worn by the dancers are beautiful.  I enjoy when they invite guest children to participate in their Las Posadas re-enactment.  They conclude with a rousing rendition of Feliz Navidad inviting the guests to participate.

Here are some books about Las Posadas you may enjoy sharing with your little learners.  (Affiliate links are provided for your convenience. )

Feliz Navidad!
